During a creature's growth, it goes through several stages. There are four regular stages, with a fifth optional stage, the Zenith stage.
Egg stage EditThe Egg stage is the very first stage in a creature's growth. Eggs are acquired from the biomes and shop.
During the egg stage, a creature goes through several sub-stages. These are represented by the egg cracking. Aside from the basic egg stage, there are four cracking stages. These occur around 10 clicks, 20 clicks, 30 clicks then 35 clicks respectively,
Hatchling stage EditThe egg stage is followed by the Hatchling stage. This represents a creature which has just hatched from its egg.
Creatures in this stage can be frozen, named, abandoned, traded and sold. At least 65 clicks are needed for a hatchling to progress to the next stage.
Mature Hatchling stage EditThe third stage in a creature's growth is the Mature Hatchling stage. It follows the hatchling stage. This is the first stage where creatures show their gender, which is occasionally shown with a difference in sprites.
Creatures in this stage can be frozen, named, abandoned, traded and sold. At least 100 clicks are needed for a mature hatchling to progress to the next stage.
Adult stage EditThe final regular stage in a creature's growth is the Adult stage. The optional Zenith stage follows this one. Creatures still show their gender in this stage, which is occasionally shown with a difference in sprites.
Creatures in this stage can be named, abandoned, traded, sold and bred.
Adult creatures can still gain clicks.
Zenith stageEditThe true final stage of a creature's growth is the Zenith stage. Only creatures which have acquired 200 or more clicks can grow to the Zenith stage, and then only after an Elemental Orb has been used on it in The Portal. Creatures in this stage show their gender, but this is never shown with a difference in sprites.
All Zenith-stage creatures get an addition to their Adult description. This addition is the same for all Zeniths and is as follows:
- "Zeniths are a mysterious variant of Ostlean creatures that are said to have ascended to their fullest potential. Existing due to incredibly strong bonds formed between tamers and creatures, these powerful beings are not commonly seen around Ostlea."
- ―Zenith Description
Creatures in this stage can be named, abandoned, traded, sold and bred, but will revert to their Adult stage for all of these except naming.
Zenith creatures can still gain clicks.
