The Yena is a creature found in the Mystic Caverns biome. They were released alongside the Moss Back Rabbit and Ignilla Wyvern during the September 2016 Release.
Descriptions[]
Egg[]
Faint growls can be heard coming from this egg.
Hatchling[]
It's large, a little fluffy, and purple. It also bites, so you try to keep it away from your other creatures.
Mature Hatchling[]
You're rapidly running out of food trying to sate the creature's immense appetite. Bones don't even seem to phase it! It seems to grow with every passing day as well, already having reached the height of your shoulder.
Adult[]
Yena are roughly the size of large bears and just as dangerous. These large cave-dwellers rarely bother hunting as their stripes have a reflective quality; instead, they wait until some creature foolishly wanders too close to their cave's entrance. All parts of a carcass are consumed, including bones, so it is easy to be fooled into thinking the cave is uninhabited. Yena are most vulnerable when raising young. Young yena have voracious appetites, which forces the parents out to actively hunt. This leaves the young untended even during their first few vulnerable months, making an easy meal for predators in the area. Their best defense is simply to lay quiet in the dark of the cave; while young, their stripes do not shimmer as they do in adults.
